Lyrics

I'll see ya in the morning
I'll see ya in the morning

It was after high school in frosty Minnesota
We were in the dorms when we met at the piano
Never knew two hearts could open like they did
Saw them stretch and bend as we let each other in
We started to fly, rollercoaster ride, left our friends behind
We were hanging on upside down

I'll see ya in the morning
I'll see ya in the morning

For years it looked like we had only started dating
We couldn't keep our hands off slept in a single bed
But you never got the chance to let yourself explore
be the single girl you never knew before
Saw you slip away, an inch more each day, slow motion earthquake
We were hanging on, through the rubble

I'll see ya in the morning
I'll see ya in the morning

A rope's only as strong as what it's holding onto
you were clinging onto me, I was clinging on to you
From the outside we looked so strong
On the inside we were barely hanging on

I'll see ya in the morning
I'll see ya in the morning
I'll see ya in the morning
I'll see ya in the morning

Track notes:
For the first six months in LA I slept on an air mattress, cooked spaghetti with marinara sauce, and every two week paycheck treated myself to a new appliance. My treat for my 5th paycheck was a toaster which was a very special event for me at the time. From my 1334 Las Palmas Apartment #208 apartment with a cactus garden and a pool in the courtyard I really felt like I had made it as I would stroll down to the Hotel Cafe 2-3 times a week to see many of the singer/songwriters I had looked up to from Minnesota and keep my sanity and motivation. "See Ya In The Morning" was written a few months farther down the road from "St. Croix" after I was able to look back at the relationship from a clearer mind frame.
